Her story is real.

Her name isn't Ping. But her story is real.

She thought she had no other options. So she took a job at a karaoke bar, lied to her mom about where she was going, and ended up trapped in a situation she couldn't get out of on her own.

When ZOE's team discovered what was happening, they moved fast. They gathered evidence, worked with authorities, and Ping was rescued along with several other girls.

But rescue is just the beginning. When she arrived at ZOE she seemed fine on the outside. Inside she was writing letters to her mom expressing thoughts of not wanting to be alive anymore.

With time, counseling, community, and the consistent love of staff… something started to shift. She started going to church. She heard about Jesus. And she made a decision to follow Him.

Her family is now ready to welcome her home. She has dreams of finishing school and going to university. Her future is being written by hope, not by what was done to her.

I work in the program that walks alongside kids like Ping after they arrive. My team and I get to be part of the slow, sacred work of healing.

It is not glamorous. It is not always easy. But it is without a doubt the most important thing I have ever done with my life.

None of this happens without my #DODDsquad holding me up from the other side of the world. Thank you for making it possible for me to stay.
