Well, it’s official…
Well, it’s official… after a year and a half, I just wrapped up teaching trauma-informed care to the parents at ZOE who care for kids rescued from trafficking.
Honestly? It was a privilege and an honor. I got to learn alongside these parents, not just teach at them. I heard their stories, heard what they’re walking through day in and day out, and helped them figure out how to actually apply what we were learning to real life, messy, 2am, “what do I do right now” situations.
The feedback at the end wrecked me in the best way. So encouraging.
I ended with something like a commissioning: you know what to do so go do it. But also? Depend on God. Because at the end of the day, every child is unique. Their trauma is unique. Their personality is unique. Where they are in their healing is unique. There’s no formula. You have to look at each kid and ask, “What happened to you, and what do you need from me right now?”
And none of this happens without my #DODDsquad … the people back home who support me being out here on the mission field. I couldn’t do this without them, period. This win is their win too. We’re partners in this, every step.
Grateful doesn’t even cover it.
